Ok…where did that name come from?
Here we were in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic. Restrictions had begun to lift and we were all anxious to hit the road and climb a mountain. We all agreed that Mt Shasta, CA. (14,179’) would be our goal. We planned the trip over Zoom meetings and off we went.
We arrived at the trailhead late afternoon and made a quick trip up to Bunny Flat to set up tents for the evening. The next day we made our way up to Lake Helen, which is high camp at 10,400’. While sitting around enjoying each others company and taking in the views, someone in the group said I should launch a global “peak bagging” page similar to what I had done with @PNW PeakBaggers. Everyone in the group agreed and immediately started suggesting different names for the page. Mostly ridiculous and probably not something any of us would want in writing. I jokingly suggested “We Like it on Top”. Everyone enjoyed a good laugh, but the name seemed to stick!
Upon returning from a successful summit and a fun trip, I decided to set up a new Instagram page and see what happened. I was surprised how quickly I was able to create a following outside of the United States. The photos from around the world and connections I have made have been amazing.
Looking forward to seeing where this journey takes us and how this website evolves!
Be patient!
